A Night in Jail!!!!!

10th,11th,12th April 2011

On Sunday we flew from Vancouver to Ottawa with my friend Brittany, picked up by her family and we went to stay the night in Arnprior.  Next day collected Victoria from the airport and we drove into Ottawa center.  Our night was to be spent in Jail!!!! (no no we didn't get up to too much mischief) it was an old jail converted into a hostel actually.  Quite an eery feeling knowing upstairs was death row and that we were actually sleeping in old jail cells, luckily no ghosts appeared to haunt us that night!

We walked through the Glebe the 'posh' area of Ottawa and then spent the afternoon wandering around the beautiful grand buildings of parliment.  That night we went to a local pub played pool and met up with some of Brittany's friends, Monday night isn't that happening in Ottawa but after my last weeks episode of drinking too much in New York I"m off alcohol for a while so it didn't bother me.

The next day Vic and I went on a free tour through parliment, great information and really interesting knowing Canada is up for reelction next month.  We went to the top of the clock tower which gave great views of Ottawa on the blue sky day we had.  We had to organise some bus trip information before heading back to Britts home town for the night.  Britt wasn't feeling the best but Vic and I went for a walk through a woodland area on the Macnamara trail, later we found out they have a problem with fisher animals who are attacking the dogs so lucky we didn't know or we would have been more jumpy (i was thinking there would be snakes and memories of back home with all the loose leafs around!)

Britts mum made us dinner which we cooked ourselves on these marble hot stones a little like tempenyaki and very very yummy though too easy to over induldge, ha ha.
Today we are on the first of our greyhound bus trips, heading to Quebec city though we have to change in Montreal, a 6 hour trip can't wait to get there to see the beautiful old town I keep hearing about and practise my french, where is my french translator when I need him ???   :-)
